The Handmaid’s Tale book cover art print. The inspiration for this print comes from the opening line of the novel: “We slept in what had once been the gymnasium. The floor was varnished wood, with stripes and circles painted on it, for the games that were formerly played there…”
I’ve had a fascination with gym floors for a while and have a collection of images I’ve taken over the years (weird I know). I’ve altered the line colours to reflect the hierachy in the novel: Handmaids in red; Wives in blue; Aunts in brown. There’s so much symbolism in this print that I could go on forever…
Giclee printed on archival, acid-free museum-quality matte paper.
