Description & Technique

This is page 73 from Delia Owens' novel Where the Crawdads Sing. I love this book. One of my favourites. So full of natural wonder. Shells and birds and tides and mangroves.

I have based my cut on one of my dad's photographs - together with Owens' line "If anyone would understand loneliness, the moon would. This line appears below the book page and is made up of the discarded piece of the page.

Hand cut.

The papercut is hand stitched to the black background. This technique allows the leaves and feathers to be free from the background, providing life, depth and shadow.

The box frame has a 20mm gap between the artwork and the glass. This allows the artwork to be a three dimensional piece as several sections of the artwork are raised from the surface.

Dimensions

Artwork is A4 in size (210mm x 297mm)
Inside the frame, the artwork is 320mm x 230mm

Framing

Framing is avilable and arrives ready to hang.

The free frame option is an acrylic frame with standard glass.
