Description & Technique

I, Robot 4 page papercut. I have a love/hate relationship with IT, but this papercut deals with a far more dangerous presence: Artificial Intelligence. We seem to be moving at great speed towards a future where AI plays a far greater role in our lives than I'm comfortable with.

The idea behind the image is a virus in the system. But is is AI infecting mankind or is mankind enslaving AI. Who are the 'bad guys'? Are we the creators of our own end? Terminator style.

I've picked a line from the novel to reflect the idea of AI taking over: "You mustn't feel too badly about my replacing you." Words spoken by QT-1 (Cutie) a robot who refuses to believe that he was created by humans and sees them as inferior.

Hand cut.

Book pages have been hand stitched to the giclee printed black grunge background. This technique allows the artwork to hang free, giving life and depth, and allowing you to see the paper cut in all its fine detail. In particular, the curve of the skull.
